2007 Southern Right Sauvignon Blanc. Walker Bay, South Africa. Green pepper leaps from the glass immediately but mellows quickly, giving the sea shell notes and citrus fruit a chance to come forward. There's a hint of lime behind the mineral palate. A surge of acid accompanies the herbal finish. Paired with lemony broccoli and chickpea Rigatoni. Citrus flavors worked in unison while the wine's herbal/grassy notes sat quietly, a mineral bass line maintained throughout. Good pairing. After dinner, the volume inches its way up and the green pepper wants to play again. Very interesting wine.
