TNR: 2000 Philippe Delesvaux Coteaux du Layon SGN

Any thoughts on this one? Looking to backfill 2000 (son's birth) from various regions... 2000 doesn't seem to be an acclaimed year for the Loire, but given Delesvaux's approach to the SGN, I figured this has a reasonable chance at greatness nonetheless. FYI, $46 from TCWC.

I didn't care a lot for this, but more stylistically than quality. I bought some Delescaux wines when they were cheap and had been WS scores, all left me a tad disappointed. If you like ZH or Kracher a lot you might like better than I did.

Dale, thanks for the feedback... I saw your note here: http://www.cellartracker.com/wine.asp?iWine=35979 (and in a thread here).

Is this the wine you're referring to? I'm not sure this (Clos de la Guiberderie) is the same wine as the SGN. Or are you referring to the Delesvaux SGN style in general across other years...?

Jim,
PC had a big sale on Delesvaux a few years back, and I bought the one I brought to Oswaldo's (that note), plus the SGN (but I can't remember if latter was '99 or 2000). Can't find note on SGN, and I guess I drank before I switched to CT in Dec '05. $13/500 ml for Guiberderie and $20 for the SGN, I think. Certainly a deal, but not really my style. As I said, stylistic not quality issues for me. I thought the SGN was quite intense, but lower acid than my preferred.

Thanks Dale, the clarification helps.

Now I wish I would have caught this at $20 (!)... but I've only been a recent convert to the chenin blanc sugar hunters club. :)
