$49.99 at Seaboard Wines, Raleigh
13% alcohol
Dark crimson with some transparency. Slightly acidic. I was trying to determine if it is worth purchasing more at this price. Pleasant dark cherry notes but I'm not convinced it is worth $50. It did hold up over three evenings and matched well with Black Forest ham and a potato casserole. Would definitely buy more at $35 but probably not at almost $50.

Dollar's killing us (and vntage hype). $50 for 1er Beaune (other than Lafarge Greves, Drouhin Mouches, and maybe Jadot Ursules) was unheard of a couple of vintages ago.

Exactly. And I agree with you on the exceptions but haven't had the Lafarge Greves.

You guys wouldn't believe the prices being asked for 2005 Burgundies over this side of the pond. Try 2 to 3 times more what you're quoting in this post! And our dollar had almost reached parity with yours!

Cheers,
David
