Question on two German wines

by JC (NC) » Thu Mar 13, 2008 5:41 pm

I will be in DC area in early April and will probably order wines in advance to pick up at that time. I'm considering one or two bottles of St. Urbans Hof 2005 Piesporter Goldtropfchen Auslese and one bottle (due to cost) of Fritz Haag 2005 Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr Gold Cap Auslese #9. Does David Bueker or anyone on the forum have tasting notes on either of these?

No tasting notes on line, but I have always liked the 2005 Goldtropfchen Auslese. It's very rich but still retains an element of elgance.

As for the Haag, 2005 Gold Kaps are huge wines. They are really BA or TBA is weight/richness, so be sure that's what you are looking for. Beyond that I have only had the regular 2005 auslese from Haag.

That's right! London and now France! I shouldn't have even bothered you with a question while you are in Europe.
