I helped judge for the World Wine and Food Expo, held in Moncton each November. They do the judging in March, so that the medal winners can be offered for order by restos, and they can bring in more cases, if possible. Smart.

So we took all the best leftovers to Brewbakers - a nice resto in Fredericton with a great list, and drank em all!

Some beauties and great values, but my faves were the various Pouilly Fuisse wines from Vincent. The 1996 shocked me - it was young tasting with gorgeous classic white burgundy characteristics. We also tried the 2006 vintage. OAKY! We also had a Vielle Vignes version. Very nice wines. I love good white Burg...

there were tons of other great wines, including a crop of serious reds from all over, and 2 vintages (02, 04 - great food vintages) of a nice little 1er Cote de Brdx that I visited 2 yrs ago (Clos Chaumont), but I wasn't taking notes -- just having fun!

Yes, big fans of Vincent/Ch. Fuisse in this household - still yet to find another wine/producer from the appellation we prefer. 1996 is obviously hanging in very well from your note, but we had one from the last 1980's last year which was almost past the 'on it's last legs' stage. FWIW I'd treat the standard wine on the whole as a 5-8 year proposition (from vintage) and not enough experience with the Vielle Vignes or Les Brulees, though from a single bottle of each I've not seen a dramatic step up from the standard wine.

I'm not sure what the price will be on these wines if they get listed...i'm waiting!

I imagine they'll buy a small allotment for the province

btw the 98 Vielle Vignes was toast....totally oxidized
