WTN: A 2000 Bordeaux And A Couple of 1994s

by R Cabrera » Sun Mar 02, 2008 8:17 pm

2000 Ch. D’Armailhac, Pauillac
Uncorked and left standing for 4 hours.
Classic Bdx aroma of earth, fruit, some smoke and leather. Lean fruit with beautiful level of ripeness, slight creaminess, full bodied, nice balance. Caveat: The current pricing that I see is a bit over and beyond my comfort level in order to accumulate more.
Tasty, fleshy finish . B+/A-

1994 Ch. Gazin, Pomerol
Fruity, Cali-like that has had some age, milky, oaky, but not much in the middle. Medium-length finish. B-

1994 Ch. Tertre Roteboeuf, Saint Emilion
Nice dark plum in color.
Leather, smoke, earth, fruit on the nose.
Still tannic but which softened nicely after an hour during dinner, nice level of fresh acidity, layers of red/black berries, medium body. Paired very well with aged NY strip.
Medium length lip-smacking finish. A-

RC-

Thanks for the notes. The Gazin sounds like typical 94 Bordeaux. I think you might need a steak with them.

Glad to hear the the TR is coming together.
