WTN: El Burro Kickass Garnacha 2006

DO Campo De Borja.

Part of the Guy Anderson stable, he of the Fat Bastard, Le Freak and Mad Dogs and Englishmen (as well as many others) lines.

A lovey nose: very spicy, tangy, raspberry fruit, slightly smoky with a cherry cough syrup note that I often associate with Grenache.

Spicy and very peppery, raspberry, slightly sweet, moderate weight, good acidity, a touch of bitterness and a little hot toward the end.

A fairly straightforward and simple, but enjoyable, wine.

Purchased at $12.85 (Canadian) and pretty good value at that.

Okay, so what percentage did the name play in making your decision to buy? :)

None at all. I had read a good review of the wine a little while ago and it happened to catch my eye as I was making my way to the cash with a cart full of other goodies. If it hadn't have been for that review, I don't think I would have bought it, simply because I am wary of gimmicky wines.

I know, we all are. But I will admit, I have a friend who loves the expression "kickass"--I'd have bought him a bottle of this on sight!

I googled the wine to look at the label - boring. I was expecting more.
