WTN: 2001 Wittmann Riesling Trocken

2001 Wittmann Riesling Trocken, Rheinhessen, # 021
We don't see a lot of trocken here, so I found this botttle to be quite interesting. It seemed to want to tell me something, but I wasn't experienced enough, nor smart enough, to figure out the message. Pale straw color, with just a touch of tart pineapple and citus on the nose and palate. Minerality that the rocks/stone crowd would find appealing. Light to medium bodied. I really enjoyed the acidic finish. Paired nicely with roast chicken.

A Therry Theisse Selection

Nice note, Redwinger. Wittmann is one of my favourite producer. Keep your eyes open for 2005 "Morstein" Großes Gewächs.
At my blog you will find more TNs about Wittmann and Podcasts with the winemaker a few weeks ago about bio-dynamic winemaking and vintage 2007.
