Actually the subject says most of what can be said. Very grassy, somewhat grapefruity, typical NZ SB. Good and good value. 13.5% alcohol. BevMo.

I made a dish of fettucine (because I was out of linguine) with mussels, chopped tomato, garlic and green onion, and a dollop of the Nautilus. Good in the sauce, good in the glass.

Just noticed this John,
Sounds like an excellent food combo for the wine. Seems, also, that although the wine was 2005, it was still quite fresh.

Checking, I bought it in September '06, so it was somewhat a cellar orphan.
To my taste, many SBs are just a bit too much when they're very new. I prefer them after they've lost a bit of edge.

I really love those new vintage SB's. I love that agressive character that they show. My favorite is still the Saint Clair Wairau Reserve. I sell wine here in Oregon and I have a few distributors who have dropped prices on older vintages of SB's. We have a few that are still on 2004. There are even a couple 2003. My feeling is that I am happy to taste these older ones and see how they are holding up. I was impressed with the 2004 SB's from Framingham and Fairhall Downs. They both tasted pretty fresh. Tonight I just opened a bottle of 2007 Saint Clair Marlborough SB and I just love this style. I would guess that not everyone likes this more agressive style. I just like these wines.
