1998 Le Brun Servenay Special Club champagne

by Peter M Czyryca » Fri Feb 15, 2008 4:48 pm

Grabbed some if these locally for a song, b/c every other Special Club I've had has been, well....special

However, I've no experience with this producer and cant find a lick of info via Googling the name, plus it's not in Stevenson's or Juhlin's books!

Help!

So I ended up popping one of my stash last night, and it was quite delicious, with citrus fruit, a chalky/pencil shavings note and nice length. Was much better warmer and with air, once the mousse settled down. Still seeking info on the producer, this was all I could come up with:

http://www.champagnegallery.com.au/shop ... -servenay/ (no affiliation to the website)

It appears their NV is 100% Chardonnay, and since the Special Club is Avize Grand Cru - once can only guess the Special Club is also 100% Chard?

Interesting!

Was it a NV? Curious to hear more if you've got it...

Yes, it was the NV and the staff tasted last night. Very good palates, they were immensely impressed. $61 Cdn.

Peter and everyone, I did more scrambling around the champagne shelves downtown and found some more little gems. Owner told me he is bringing in more of these lesser known houses, so any comments/more research here welcome!!

Serveaux et fils.
Bruno Gobbillard.
Zoemie de Sousa Merveille.

I have a feeling that the Abel Grape website might show up something.

Nice - I've had the NV Serveaux BdB. Reminds me of Pierre Peters, lots of chalk/minerals, yum!

Tim was looking for this post I believe. The Serveaux now sits in the cellar.
