Muscadet rocks! But this producer seems to get little notice.

  • 2004 Chéreau-Carré Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine Cuvée des Ceps Centenaires Château de Chasseloir - France, Loire Valley, Pays Nantais, Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine (5/31/2006)
White as water. A lovely nose of sea breeze, citrus, rocks and mineral water. The palate is highly acidic, citrussy, salty and highly intense. Lovely stuff!

Otto,
You are always finding the good stuff. Thanks for the note. It reminds me that I need to drink more muscadet.
Cheers!

Another good find there, Otto. I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of the '05 muscadets here.

I've tried two 2005 so far and found both a bit over fruity and lacking in acidity. I hope the two were just odd bottles - though were tasty enough that I joyfully emptied the bottles, but still, I would have enjoyed a bit more acidity.
