2006 Edmunds St. John Pinot Gris Witters Vineyard - USA, California, Sierra Foothills, El Dorado County (2/6/2008)
This is quite nice, and more streamlined than the last time I tasted it back in September of last year. The aromatics still do not remind me of Pinot Gris, with peach and a slightly honeyed, smoky, floral element dominating, but in the mouth the acidity has brightened considerably, giving greater definition and freshness, more reminiscent of Pinot Gris. Served at a slightly cool temp (not too cold) there's no trace of heat, and the finish is quite minerally. Much more impressive than my last bottle (though I still think it smells like Viognier).
