need help finding arintho grape variety

by David Creighton » Sun Feb 03, 2008 1:39 pm

i picked up a bottle of 2006 quinta da alorna arintho from ribatejo. stevenson and robinson both are very positive about this grape - citing acidity and aging potential. the wine is good and i agree about the grapes quality. BUT this particular wine was fairly sweet - pushing 1% is my guess. i'd love to try this variety in a drier version. anyone know any? your help would be appreciated. availability in the US would be a plus. :D

While I have nothing to add, as I know nothing about the grape or the wine, I believe a Google search, using an alternate spelling - ARINTO - might get you what you want.
Chico - Hey! This Bottle is empty!
Groucho - That's because it's dry Champagne.

White Bucelas is where you mostly find Arinto. Provia regia used to be a very good 100% arinto from that Area, although it is years since I had it. Producers name was Compania das Quintas or something.
