WTN: 2001 Parducci Petite Sirah

by Shaji M » Thu Jan 31, 2008 9:50 pm

I hadn't opened this one in a while. I like my PS at least 6-7 years old. This one was under an artificial cork and I was a little apprehensive. But it was laid to rest as the dark purple juice in the glass was still quite aromatic - earth, floral, and red fruits. The wine was very smooth, easy to drink and the palate well reflected the nose. The finish was generous. I know that the Parducci establishment was bought out by the Mendocino Wine Company and this bottle must have been one of their earlier efforts. I wonder how their recent offerings have been. The Parducci family themselves now own McNab Ridge and they make some pretty good wines including a Pinotage.

I too used to keep these PS`s for a few years in the cellar. Always been excellent.
But have not seen anything for around 3 yrs so look elsewhere.
Thanks for this.
