WTN: 2006 Buglioni il Clandestino Bianco Veronese IGT

by Howard » Tue Jan 22, 2008 12:14 am

I'm told it's made from the gargenega grape. I've got to be getting close to century club membership by now. Very pleasant tropical nose. Palate follows with tropical fruits, peaches and minerals. Good acidity. Limited finish. Good dinner wine but a little expensive at $18 at a cooking/specialty shop near my home. If I could find it for $12 or so I'd buy it by the case.

Tasty white wine from valpolicella. Who knew?

Howard,
You might want to check out some Soave wines from good producers, for more Gargenega based wines. At their best they can be really fine. Check out Anselmi, Pieropan, Gini, Inama, or Cofferle for some good ones. Usually they are not too pricey, like $12 -18 and sometimes more for top cuvees.

Thanks Marc. It's funny you mentioned Anselmi... a couple of years ago I bought a case of a very cost effective Anselmi white oh, now I remember- it was San Vincenzo - that was very good. As I drank the Buglioni, it reminded me of the Anselmi.
