According to a survey by Rich Git Wine Advocater, Far Niente is the most prestigious wine. OK, technically the survey was done by the Luxury Institute, but any organization that says things like "These are self-made multimillionaires who expect superior quality, prestige and much more from a premium wine." deserves all the ridicule they get, plus dare I say our scorn?
You can read the list (not in order, learning the order costs money, er, "is accesible to our valued and painfully prestigious customers"), but it's amazing that Santa Margarita is in the top 21! Whoever figured out a way to turn a $5 bottle of pinot grigio into one of the most prestigious wine brands (at least among those making $350K a year) deserves the marketing grand prize. But where's Opus One? Is it lumped under Mondavi? Also, Silver Oak is missing. What gives?
