1995 Stonegate Cabernet Sauvignon - USA, California, Napa Valley (5/27/2006)
A recent reorganization of my cellar found this orphan that had made the trip west with me when we moved from S Carolina to WA 3 years ago. I had little hopes for this bottle as it had been exposed to some temperature variations, but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. This had a youthful purple color with only a hint of bricking at the rim. Blackberry leaf and a little spicy oak aromas. Black cherry and cassis flavors follow with decent acidity, slightly sweet. Tannins about 90% resolved. Fully mature, maybe a bit OTH, it was still pretty enjoyable for what it was, an 11 yr Napa Cab that I think I spent about $12 on 8 years ago. It went well with grilled ribeyes and a garden salad.
