I felt the need to try something new this evening, so with an early exit from my office due to a ruptured natural gas line that evacuated downtown Tulsa this afternoon, I stopped in at my favorite purveyor of fine adult beverages, and came home with this 2004 Colosi Sicilia Rosso, $8.99.
There's a deep, dark ruby color in the glass. The nose was of tea and tobacco, with just a wee bit of licorice. Black cherries and plums on my tongue, with a host of other flavors that I can't quite identify, but very pleasing. There's a bit of astringency too, not too much though, maybe some tannins? I think it will go well with the pasta sauce that's bubbling on the stove as I type. It's the first time I have had a wine from the Nero D`Avola grape, but it certainly won't be the last!
Alc. 12.5%.
