WTN: '98s Wynns Cab/Shiraz/Merlot, Reynella Cab

Wynns Coonawarra Estate Cabernet/Shiraz/Merlot 1998 - Still deep, dark color but the edge is showing some browning. Slightly musty. Has a bit of sweetness and some prune as well. Very soft. Unfortunately on the decline.

Chateau Reynella Besket Pressed Cabernet Sauvignon 1998 - Good ripe fruit. Juicy, vibrant. The 14% alcohol is not a problem due to the excellent balance. Medium-bodied; not the usual rich, thick Oz wine. Still a bit tannic. Not quite at peak yet but should be there in 2 years or so. Excellent wine.
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.

Don't get to see much Wynns in these parts any more. Used to be quite a big player and that etsate wine was always well priced. The Reynella sounds good.

That's a shame. I recall a bottle of the 98 maybe 3-4 years ago that was in prime form, arguably as good as the Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon. I'd thought it might do 3-4 years more, but obviously not!
