Wow, I thought my white Bairrada would feature local grapes!

Was I wrong!! Guess I should have read the back label on purchase.
I thought this wine would qualify for Great Wine Value on WF but alas better to post here. Oh, Chardonnay and Sauv Blanc!

WTN: `06 Entre 11 Santos Bairrada Branco, Campolargo Portugal.

Think Caves Alianca involved here, 12.5% alc, $15 Cdn, good natural cork. Home of Mateus Rose, this is definately "international" in style and would fool a lot of people if served blind. Richard Mayson in his Wines of Portugal wrote...."think white grapes only account for 10% production in the region".

Color is a medium straw, no yellow or green. On the nose I found some typical SB nuances mixed in with tropical fruits, namely pineapple, gooseberry, spice, floral fragrance. The palate showed crispness and refreshing, Wow, not at all what I expected! Malo in stainless steel I`d say and a real mish-mash of flavours. Tropical fruits, citrus la la la.
Great patio wine for you forumites south of the equator!
