WTN: 2002 Frescobaldi Chianti Rufina Nipozzano

2002 Marchesi de Frescobaldi Chianti Rufina Nipozzano

Medium opacity showing purple- Rose around the rim.The nose showed dark fruit and some candied peel. Full in the mouth but soon washed out to the front leaving a void behind. A shame the length was cut short.

The 2002 vintage was considered a washout in Chianti, so Frescobaldi did not declare their flagship Chianti 'Montesodi' and instead included the grapes in this wine. As a result it was a good wine for the vintage and had more depth in taste than normal.
