1989 Ch. Pichon-Longueville au Baron de Pichon-Longueville, Pauillac
Uncorked and left standing for 3 hours prior to the first pour. Ink dark, ripe dark cherry red. Nose of stones, earth, leafy, leather and fresh meat. Lot’s of tannin, white peppery, slight creamy undertones, firm blue/black fruit, espresso notes, medium-full bodied. Nothing harsh in the palate, but looks to have many more good years ahead. A-
My last wine for 2007 - Loring Wine Company 2006 Keefer Ranch Vineyards Pinot Noir
I believe that the vineyard is from the Russian River Valley in Sonoma and I’d urge for someone to please correct me if I am wrong.
Translucent with a dark strawberry red color. The nose was earthy, ripe red fruit and some wet leaves.
On the palate, it had lively acidity, some tannin, and ripe red fruit. It was a slight departure from my few, and limited, experiences with California pinot that had waves and waves of huge fruit with the unmistakable alcohol underpinnings. The LWC had the fruit, but somewhat restrained and not over-the-top. The structure was lean and silky in the mouth. The long finish was tart and chewy. I enjoyed this by itself, but, imho, may not be as good as a food wine. Quite delicious. B+
