2004 J. & H.A. Strub Niersteiner Hipping Riesling Spätlese (Rheinhessen)
#06 05 Imp: Classic Wine.
Light pale straw colored. Very floral and ripe fruit aromas. It’s fairly racy but has lots of really yummy fruit and it’s so utterly refreshing. Screwcapage.

Mumm Napa XXVth Anniversary Reserve Brut (Napa)
12.5% abv. 48% pinot noir, 45% chardonnay plus pinot gris and pinot meunier. NV sparkler released in 2004.
Big nose of freshly buttered toast. Initial flavors of strawberry, peach and roasted nuts evolve into a zippy lemon meringue finish. After trying over a dozen, this is the first brut blanc that I’ve really enjoyed from Mumm Napa.

Hipping is a personal favorite. For some reason I do not own much though. I have lots of Paterberg which I like a lot less (though I sitll enjoy it). I guess it was a factor of availability.
