WTN: 2003 Lodi Syrah

This is one of 3 bottles of home made wine sent to me by Mike Filigenzi. Served with Christmas Day dinner of prime rib, Brussels sprouts, garlic potatoes and sautéed mushrooms. Generally, I’m not a big Syrah fan, preferring PN, Gamay and Cab Franc, but this turned my head. Dark garnet, with a generous, intense, fruity, yet complex bouquet. Long finish, well balanced, with good acidity and tannins. This was an excellent wine and a very good match with the prime rib. The host of the dinner, my daughter-in-law’s uncle, who is also a home wine maker, raved about it. Well done Mike. Good stuff.
Chico - Hey! This Bottle is empty!
Groucho - That's because it's dry Champagne.
