WTN: Charles Heidsieck Brut Blanc de Blanc 1990

Blanc de Millenaire.

Drinking mature champagne is truly a wondrous experience. :D

Dark golden yellow in the glass.

Doughy and lemon on the nose.

Very tiny bubbles and thin streams in the glass, but quite bubbly in the mouth.

Crisp, green apples, good acidity, creamy, rather balsamic vinegar-like, toasty, marzipan, dates and figs, very nutty (almonds and walnuts), rich Christmas cake-like fruit.

A rich and very complex wine that brightened up a Saturday night before Christmas.

Is this the one that got the major points from Bruce Sanderson, back in the day?

I think I had this wine, many, many years ago.

Yes. Bruce Sanderson gave it 95 points. I bought it in December 2003.

I've had this many times - superb!

I also find the 1995 a great wine too. Not quite as complex, but if you see it, grab it!

I had the privilege of tasting several '90 Champagnes at MOCOOL '06. It was truly eye opening!
Chico - Hey! This Bottle is empty!
Groucho - That's because it's dry Champagne.
