Some wines make you think..... some wines make you, well, reach wine-gasm on a Tuesday evening..... French barriques usually make me think but not necessarily enjoy a wine. Slavonian oak treatment makes me scream with ecstasy. A recent purchase of Badia a Passignano 2001 Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva made me think, but tonight's Tenute Silvio Nardi 2005 Rosso di Montalcino made me wine-gasm, for half the price. OK, it was a ittle too early to open the 01 Chianti Classico Riserva, but, for my palate, it is all in what type of oak the wine has seen. I paid a whopping $43 for the Antinori, and $20 for the Nardi, but my wine enjoyment had nothing to do with the price.

Blow up the barriques and hail to all producers who use Slavonian oak barrels!!!
