2005 Caymus. It's pretty young, of course, so it may be unfair to even "rate" this wine. Served from the bottle, I don't think she decanted it (which might of helped). Definitely the green, herbal side of Cabernet. Lighter red currant and raspberry fruit. Some oak, but not too overt, appearing mainly on the finish. Not sure it's worth $70, but I have to admit that I did enjoy the rich and smooth mouth feel of the wine. Not sure there is enough acidity, though. Not sure how I would score this, so I'll just say I found it interesting. I have a bottle of 2004 in my cellar-this was a riper, warmer year, so hopefully we'll get more black fruit and leather and fewer green notes-along with the unctuous mouth feel.
2001 Kistler Dutton Ranch. My first truly aged California Chardonnay. Very interesting flavor-this must be the "positive" side of oxidation??? Definitely some burnt caramel notes. No banana, though

Surprising hit of nice refreshing acidity-maybe that is why they age Kistler Chardonnays? I guess I would conclude that I found it more interesting than enjoyable.
