Just some quick impressions of 2 purchased wines on my recent trip.
- 2005 Ridge Zinfandel York Creek - USA, California, Napa Valley, Spring Mountain District (12/10/2007)
Had at Watermark in Nashville. Nice balanced wine. Not too ripe. Lots of fruit and medium high acidity. Drinks well now but seems I imagine it will age just fine. (88 pts.)
- 2005 Joh. Jos. Christoffel Erben Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Kabinett - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (12/11/2007)
Decided I need a little wine with a very difficult pairing. Prince's Hot Chicken in Nashville. Well not really a pairing but it was the wine of the evening. The wine did need a bit of a shake to wake up ... then it was clean a fruity. Nicely balanced acidity with the sweetness. Lots of citrus but a touch of stones coming through as well. A solid wine. (89 pts.)
I have included this somewhat scary picture of my meal.

That is the Hot if you are wondering. That first bite is so intense. Major endorphin rush.
Cheers,
Jason
