  • 2005 Wooldridge Creek Merlot - USA, Oregon, Southern Oregon, Applegate Valley (12/10/2007)
Color- This wine is a deep ruby with some dark raspberry thrown in, dark in the center, but not yet opaque.

Nose- The nose is some cedar, a bit of pine, a touch of tobacco and oak balancing out nice red and black berry fruits. Maybe a little licorice too (or have I been reading to many other tasting notes??).

Palate- Dark cherry and raspberry on the palate, leading the tobacco and woody/woodsy (in a good way) flavors. Noticible tannins, but overall fairly plush in the mouth, the finish slowly lets the fruit die away but leaves the cedar/tobacco/pine flavors to linger in the corners.

Definitely more accessible than the 2004 version of the same, which probably need some more time. This one is ready and delicious, especially with broiled lamb chops, dried cranberry couscous, and apple/bacon brussels sprouts. Yum! Glad I have another couple bottles.
