From Jean and Frederic Carrere
Corbieres
Moderately dark cherry red in the glass.
A lovely and rich nose: smoky, earth, leather and red licorice.
Very rich, thick and silky, luscious and jammy cherry and raspberry fruit, leathery, slightly tart and tangy, good acidity, showing a bit of alcohol heat toward the end.
A long, smoky finish.
Purchased at $32 (Canadian) from a restaurant wine list and it matched very well with our food: a rich dish of onion soup, a chevre and leek tart and a grilled chicken sandwich on a bun.
