WTN: Self-deception - Tempier Bandol Rosé '04

+4 degrees C, rain, still some unmelted snow on the ground - ergo it's time to practice some self deception. It's summer! :) So I made a bad pizza and opened a stunning rosé:

Pale pink. The scent is vegetal and earthy, dark toned and citrussy. It has lost the overt strawberry notes I often find in younger Bandol rosés and has become a much more interesting drink. Abundant sweet fruit, mouthfilling texture, yet also very refreshing acidity and minerality. I notice some tannins also. The combination of such fruit, acid and tannin make me wonder if this would age like Musar's rosé? Great stuff!

There was however a problem: the evaporation rate of the wine was unnaturally fast - I wonder what caused that. With just the two of us, a magnum would have been needed.

I have a few more of these left that I will forget about until the summer (cue voice in the back of my head saying: "yeah right! like that will ever happen".)

I don't drink wine because of religious reasons ... only for other reasons.
