WTN: Cathedral Cellar Shiraz 2003

by Bruce Hayes » Sun Nov 25, 2007 10:28 am

Coastal Region.
From KWV.

A very big nose, smoky, rich black fruit, pencil lead and leather.

Rich, fairly fleshy and juicy black cherry, raspberry and strawberry fruit, peppery. slightly sweet, quite tangy. The wine was quite thick and full bodied for the first few glasses, but then it became rather lean, while still retaining the rich flavours.

A fairly long and tangy finish.

My wife and I have enjoyed this wine over a few vintages now.

Purchased at $16.95 (Canadian).

Thanks Bruce. Cathedral Cellar can be counted on for good, decent quality wines. I had one of their Cabs in the summer and enjoyed it quite a bit. This Shiraz seems like a great wine to have with beef stew or something similar on a cold winter's day!
