We started with the always crowd pleaser - NV Bugey-Cerdon Rose - I can't have a family get-together without this wine now. All the wine drinkers request this. My BIL brought the 2005 Servin Chablis Premiere Cuvee Les Pargues - my kind of wine, laser sharp rocks/gravel/lemon and citrus. This went very well with the appetizers including a butternut squash and herb puree en croute. He also brought the 2005 Francois Raquillet Mercurey Vielles Vignes, earthy, mushroomy, young, black cherries faintly in the background. Brisk acidity, softish tannins as far as I can tell. Here's a red that goes very well with roasted/brined/herbed turkey. For dessert I brought out a 1986 Hermann J. Wiemer Johannisberg Riesling Individual Bunch Selected late harvest. Interesting little half bottle of a dessert wine. The label says Natural Sugar at harvest 34.9% by weight and Residual sugar after fermentation 10.8%. The acidity to balance is awesome. There's honey, and preserved lemons not a bit cloying but actually cleansing. Nice moderately long finish. I bought this at the winery on my trip last spring. Nice dinner.
