WTN: 06 Deaver Sauvignon Blanc Amador

According to Dennis Inks the tasting room manager this has been made in the NZ style which means adding citric acid. The grapefruity aroma component is powerful. 14.2% alc. Perfect candy sourness. No detectable sweetness. There is no hint of the typical 90s sauvignon oiliness.

I won't say I like it, but I have already drank 3 bottles of it.

Seriously? Adding citric acid to wine is something that as a rule just isn't done. Was he suggesting that Kiwis add citric acid to their SB or that the Deaver wine had it added? Either way, sounds to me like Dennis didn't know what he was talking about - or you misinterpreted, one or the other.

This is what the tasting room manager says:

"Yes this is a Deaver wine. We bought the grapes from El Dorado County and it was made and bottled by Marco Capelli The only bad news is that we sold the last 7 bottles today."

Here is an article I found about the winemaker I think. It is probably the same guy since it mentions that he is coming to this area.
