What's your budget? I tend to like both the Riesling and Gewurz from Trimbach (Alsace), but too austere for some.
US- I tend to think that Riesling is the one thing the Finger Lakes does very well. I tend to like more than West Coast. Navarro makes good Gewurz.

Ground zero for good dry Rieslings and Gewurztraminers is Alsace. Trimbach is well distributed but I agree tends to be on the austere side. Domaine Weinbach tend to be bigger and richer - the reserve Gewurz was stunning last year. Hugel is decent and well-distributed. Zindt-Humbrecht makes big and rather alcoholic Gewurztraminers, I tend to prefer the Rieslings.

Angeline, Larson, Corison and Navarro all make pretty good dry Gewurz from California. From California, I had good dry Rieslings in the past year from Otter Creek, Greenwood Ridge and Esterlina.

Some good dry Rieslings come from the Pfalz region of Germany. Look for trocken or halbtrocken wines from Knipfler or von Buhl. Austria makes plenty of good dry Riesling, but I'm not that familiar with the individual producers.

Herman Wiemer's "Dry" Riesling from the Finger Lakes in NY is superb, although I would call it just off-dry.

I agree on the Navarro recommendation if you can find it. If you can go with something a touch off-dry, you could go with the Pacific Rim Riesling. Not profound, but tasty wine that's inexpensive and widely available.

On my trip to WA last month I brought back 2 Gewurtz's - Columbia and Ch. Ste Michelle. Tasted both at the winery and liked them, but haven't opened them yet (saving for Christmas, when my son Pete is here). I believe both were < $10 each. I don't know if Finger Lakes Rieslings are available in your area, but Dr. Frank and Ravines are quite nice.

Groucho - That's because it's dry Champagne.

Another vote for the Trimbach.
For an off beat, US recommendation, look for Curran 06 Gewurz from Santa Barbara - if you can find it, it's an excellent rendition of this variety.

There's a store in Santa Barbara, called "The Wine Cask", which has a very competent selection of Austrians:

AUSTRIA

2006 Prager Steinriegl, $32.00

2006 Nigl Privat, $60.00
https://store.winecask.com/winestore/detail.cfm?wine_id=5873

They've also got a bunch of older Rieslings & Grüners which would probably be a whale of a lot of fun to drink on Turkey Day.

Anyway, if you got on the phone with them this morning, then I bet they could UPS 1-Day some wine to you by tomorrow evening.

I imagine that the stores further south [LA & Orange County] and further north [SF] could also do UPS 1-Day, but I'm not that familiar with UPS in Cali.

But, oddly enough, The Wine Cask is the only Cali store showing these 2006's on Wine-Searcher Pro.

Lawson's Dry Hills Gewurztraminer from Marlborough, New Zealand, is made in a dry style.
Most Aussie Rieslings are dry. Wolf Blass Gold Label Riesling and Richmond Watervale Riesling are always reliable.

Excellent suggestions, Guys/Gals!

I will be traveling to Fresno [the nearest city to my town with stores which have decent wine stock] and I'll check out your suggestions.

I knew this was the place to ask :D
