That's a great idea. I love it.
The thought of pedaling around Paris in the dead of winter gives me the shivers, though. I'll bet they're more popular in the spring.

you'd need help prying her head out of her ass in order to present the idea.....

Randy, a mechanics question.

Don't some racks overfill from time to time? And other locations become totally empty?

How are bike populations stabilized?

Ah, trucks.

Thanks, Randy. It's one more reason to visit a favorite city. Thanks for posting.

Unfortunately, there has been a little more vandalism than they expected, I think.

Now, THAT is funny. In a city which is the graffiti and dogshit capitol of Europe, where cars are torched daily, where the citizens have an unparalleled sense of entitlement, and don't even MENTION the driving, they expected that everyone would respect the pay bicycles. Academic planners at their best.

There used to be a program something like this in Amsterdam. The hotel I usually stay at when I'm there has pictures on the wall of the huge piles of rusted frames being pulled out of the canals.

I don't even want to think about what would happen if they tried this in NYC. Every junkie with a socket wrench would soon be in the bicycle parts business.

No, that's in the windows, just to keep the girls frightened.

We don't need to make this a police matter. The pictures are merely advisory.

I saw these bikes being rented out all over the place a couple of weeks ago. Here are some photos with the bikes and rental fees -
