the preliminary taste wasn't promising - extremely shrill and a mean green streak.
However, when paired with a Spanish tortilla of potato and mushroom, the wine transformed into something really enjoyable. The acidity seemed dialed back, the fruit stretched out and filled in the gaps, and it all came into balance.
The green element remained, but in a totally positive way, coupled with a kind of spicy, sandlewood note that I found very interesting.

I wound up really enjoying this wine - it's not something I would drink on its own, but I wouldn't hesitate to pair it with food.

Interesting. This is the cuvee with carbonic maceration, I'm guessing meant to be drunk young. Although extremely shrill, green, and 2005 still sound like an interesting combination.

But, glad you found some pleasure.

That was just the initial sniff and taste - as I said, once I hooked it up with the food, it was a really nice wine.
