The 10 Commandments of Wine (Wine Humor)

by Paulo in Philly » Wed Oct 31, 2007 1:21 am

My father, who is retired and recently moved back to Brazil, wastes no time traveling every chance he has. He recently visited Portugal and Spain. While he is not a winegeek, he does enjoy drinking wine. Among other small gifts he brought me from his trip, including some Port, he did bring me The 10 Commandments of Wine on a piece of wood with a hole in it, that is supposed to hold a bottle of wine at the dinner table - I have yet to try it, but.... I thought to share the commandments with ye forumites:

1st. LOVE WINE ABOVE ALL THINGS

2nd. SWEAR TO DRINK IT WHILE IN SUMMER OR WINTER

3rd. SANTIFICATE BARS AND CELLARS

4th. HONOR EITHER WHITE OR RED

5th. START THE DAY AT LEAST WITH ONE GLASS

6th. NEVER MIX WATER AND WINE

7th. NEVER ROB AN EMPTY BOTTLE

8th. DO NOT LIE WITHOUT BEING DRUNK

9th. JUST ENVY OR DESIRE A FULL BOTTLE OF WINE

10th. ALWAYS DRINK IT SLOWLY BUT SURELY

This is one commandment I would have trouble keeping. Need my coffee. Now, ending the day is a different story.
Thanks for sharing Paulo.
Chico - Hey! This Bottle is empty!
Groucho - That's because it's dry Champagne.

Paulo,
I met a Brazilian lady at the Fayetteville Wine Society meeting Monday. This was the first of the meetings she and her companion had attended (I've been to all of them since it started last January.)
