Election day holiday today so had the guys over this afternoon for some wine.
Domaine la Remejeanne Cotes du Rhone Villages Les Chevrefeuilles 2005 - Lightish. Bright acidity. Coffee and tobacco. Quite dry and tannic. Not bad but much better with food. Probably better with a bit more cellaring.
Domaine de Beaurenard Rasteau 2005 - Sweetish and soft compared to the Remejeanne. Spicy. Coarse tannin on the finish. Easier to drink now than the Remejeanne but should have no trouble aging for another 2 years or so.
Chateau Sociando-Mallet 2003 - Ripe berry nose. Light to medium bodied. Quite approachable but not too interesting at this point. Maybe needs a few more years to show better.

Thank you for the notes, Jay, especially on the 2003 Sociando.
I had this in a tasting last year and was pleasantly surprised by its approachability then for a young Sociando and the nice balance that it showed. Looks like it may be approaching its closing phase.
I trust everything went well with the elections.

Hi Mon,
I filled a 275ml bottle with some Sociando and will probably try it in a few days but from the initial taste, yes, it did seem it might be closing.
The elections went pretty well, I think.
