Cline Cellars Spring Fling

OK, OK, I really should have taken notes, but the party was just so nice and relaxing that even anal note-taker me laid back and enjoyed.

If you haven't been to an event at Cline Cellars, I'd recommend making the effort to do so. The grounds, gardens, and aviary are just the right place to kick back and relax. And, in my humble estimation, the wines are none too shabby either.

This weekend's Spring Fling featured the full line of production from Cline Cellars and Jacuzzi Vineyards. The food was good, but the Dutch Crunch rolls were to die for. Music was served up by this funky trio called the Mermen who out-Dick-Daled Dick Dale. Am I that old?

My favorite beverages were the Cline '04 Small Berry Mourvèdre and the '03 Cool Climate Syrah. Of course, I seem to always like their Ancient Vines Carignane and '04 they served up there was no exception.

The Jacuzzi wines were all a bit on the young side it seemed. I once upon a time enjoyed their Nebbiolo. This time it wasn't as impressive, but maybe it needs more time. By the way, they've changed their label and bottle shape and are going full bore towards opening their new tasting room in fall of '06. If they handle us wine folk like they do over at Cline, I'm certain it will be a worthwhile stop along the viney path.

OK, next Saturday is the ZAP party in St. Helena. See ya' there!
