1990 Ornellaia
Supremely elegant mouthfeel, with some very strange flavors I've never tasted before.
Kinduva techno-metallic-citrus thang, but in a good way.
Googling doesn't seem to indicate the blend - Tanzer's site just says "Cabernet Sauvignon", and Strat's Place also indicates Bordeaux varietals - but I can't shake the feeling that there's some Sangiovese in there.
If not, then it's like no Cabernet Sauvignon I've ever encountered.
Hold until 2020.
1998 Palmer
Hold until 2048. Seriously.
If you don't think your ticker will last that long, then try one of those generation-skipping transfers and will it to your grandchildren.
1997 Gaja Conteisa
Hold until, I dunno - forever?
I wouldn't even think about opening one until 2027, and even then, I'd be a little gun-shy.
1997 Valentini Montepulciano d'Abruzzo
Way, way, way beyond anything I have the ability to comprehend.
With any luck, maybe I'll be able to try it again on Day Two, with the hope that I might understand it a little better at that point.
Thanks Chrish! Thanks Matt! Brush your teeth, Brent!
