WTN: Columbia Crest Two Vines Shiraz 2002

by Bruce Hayes » Sat May 13, 2006 7:07 pm

Columbia Valley, Washington.

Dark purple in the glass.

Cherry fruit, spice and red licorice on the nose.

Very juicy cherry-berry fruit, spicy, some vegginess-leafiness (is that a word?), leaner than I had been anticipating, with a drying finish and some heat toward the end as well.

Okay, sort of a novelty, but I certainly wouldn't have guessed Shiraz if someone had handed me a glass of this.

Priced at $15.95 Canadian.

I find them mediocre at best for my palate. Please don't judge WA Syrah based on these wines.

Don't worry: I wasn't planning on writing off your entire state based on one wine. Perhaps two, but never one.
