WTN: Rustenberg Chardonnay 2004

Stellenbosch.

Spicy and sweet oak on the nose.

Lemon, pear, rich but not overpowering oak, lightly creamy, good acidity, rather zingy, peppery. Very rich and intense flavours, but avoiding the ponderous heaviness that many other "big" Chardonnays have which, to my mind, result in early palette fatigue. This wine is wonderfully balanced and quite refreshing and delicious.

A tangy and peppery finish.

Purchased at $22.95 (Canadian).
