Good luck!

I have a whole bunch of stuff in a box to go to Vermont this weekend for a visit with the Iversons. Who know what we'll open...

Tonight meeting some friends in city. I won a bet, so supposed to get a $150 bottle of mature Bdx. Not fun to take wine from friends. So instead we all dine together- wager loser is bringing a '89 Lafite, a friend who instigated the bet is bringing '89 Lynch Bages, I'm bringing '89 Certan de May, unsure re other two. Should be good night!

And Sunday is Lucy's the Basset's birthday tea. Many dogs gather in our backyard. For the people I'll have Mulderbosch Faithful Hound, and maybe a Dog Point NZ SB.

Nøgne Ø's Imperial Stout tonight to ward off the cold. I will be having a very anti-social weekend, so I don't know if I'll bother opening anything at all. I've had too many formal tastings recently so I might feel like a break from wine. But who knows how I'll feel tomorrow. :)

I'm meeting up with Dale for the 1989-fest. Along with the Lynch Bages, I'm bringing 1989 Grand Puy Lacoste. I think those two are a good match up, although Lynch seems to have done much better in 89. I'm looking forward to the 1989 Lafite, which was spectacular last time I had it.

Later in the weekend I'm considering checking in on a 1996 Bordeaux just for fun. Maybe Pontet Canet.

Even though it is now autumnnn right now, we enjoyed another bottle of the '06 Wild Rock Vin Gris, Rose' of Central Otago. Popped it after a hard day of gardening with Sesame Shrimp and rice takeout, and sliced purple Brandywines. Perfect Friday night.

Tomorrow, it will be a steak with a really big Cab. Look out Jenise!

Dinner at a restaurant with a fairly large group of friends tonight. I feel guilty bringing my own wine, but it's the only way I can afford to drink what I want to

Here's the group I'm choosing between:

1995 Farella-Park "Orchard Block" Merlot. My fourth (and almost the last) bottle: the first two were just stunning, the third was still good but lean. It's all about the savory notes and herbs now, although there is still some nice red fruit peeking out.

1999 Chateau La Cosupade St. Emillion. May be too young. Purchased from the shop that introduced me to Bordeaux....I trust him!

2002 Chimney Rock Reserve or 2004 Nemerever Cab. The Chimney Rock may be infanticide, but I wanted to bring a more fruit forward, juicy wine. It was showing pretty well at the winery tasting a couple of months ago. I love the sheer juicyness and exuberance of Chimney Rock-but they are still balanced and elegant and delciious, even if 110% "Napa" in character!

The Nemerever was a vanity project from a couple that owns a couple of Oakville acres near the infamous Screaming Eagle. Finkelstein made their wine at the Judd's Hill Custom Crush facility on Silverado Trail. The shopkeeper in Calistoga said even so young it is drinking well. I love Whitehall Lane, and this is again a choice of a fruit forward wine to balance the savory Farella-Park and the Bordeaux.

The other one I was considering was a 2001 Cab from Diamond Mountain.

Gentlemen,

I know I would greatly appreciate tasting notes on the 89 Lynch-Bages as I have a few in the cellar. I believe David Lole may also. So we await enlightenment!!

TIA
Cheers!

David Lole will never gain enlightenment in his current state! :P

Well, I'm behind in my bottling and I will be getting this year's grapes starting this week, so I have a lot of bottling to do. Yesterday I bottled Leon Millot and am finishing about 3/4 of a bottle after filling 25 bottles. Today I'll be bottling Un-Oaked Chardonnay - 6.5 gallons. I'll probably drink some of that tonight.
Chico - Hey! This Bottle is empty!
Groucho - That's because it's dry Champagne.
