2005 Falesco, Vitiano, Bianco Umbria ($12.99 U.S.). Alcohol level: 13%. If you are as uninitiated as we were, this is a blend of Vermentino, Viognier, and Verdicchio.
It gives you freshly mowed grass on the nose, and some citrus added upfront. You get distinct lime and ripe pear amongst the fruity complexity on the palate, and the finish lingers nicely. Makes you think you are picnicking in the sand dunes with marsh grass swaying in the breeze.
We matched it with boneless chicken breast marinated with lime juice, EVOO, and salt and pepper. They were then sprinkled with Adobo seasoning, and grilled over charcoal and apple chips. Garlic bread and sliced tomatoes with the accompaniment.
It was a great Tuesday night.
