SacBee: Dunne On Food&Wine Matches....

by TomHill » Wed Sep 19, 2007 2:46 pm

MikeDunne, one of my most favorite wine writers, one of the few who often has something worth reading, has some interesting comments in today's SacBee on matching food & wine.
One point with which I totally agree:

"While some matchups yield an absolutely revelatory and exciting marriage,
they're rare. I've become convinced that such thrilling combinations are
more the result of context -- who you are with, the occasion, the setting,
the weather -- than the intricate properties of the food and wine themselves."

Ahmen, brother. I seldom find that synergistic pairing where the food and the wine lift each other up to another level. In the end...it's all about the company.

Mike's columns are nearly every Wed. In the Lifestyles section. And he often writes food articles as well. One of the few weekly columnists that ever has a new idea I think.
