WTN: Porcupine Ridge Syrah 2006

by Bruce Hayes » Tue Sep 04, 2007 10:20 am

From Boekenhoutskloof. Coastal Region.

A lovely smoky nose at first, but becoming bitter and heavily charred-burned with time.

Incredibly smoky, quite tangy, black cherry, red licorice, spicy, with some bitter charred notes toward the end.

Very bitter and charred on the finish.

A very extreme wine that isn't to my taste.

Screwcap closure.

Purchased at $14.95 (Canadian).

Looking at my records, I had the `03 of this particular wine. Just average stuff but thought it could have used some more grip. No comments like this though!
