2005 Igrexario Saiar Albariño Rias Baixas Spain. $19.99 at Beekman in Glen Rock.
Pale yellow color with some hints of green, clear hue, intense aromas of peach, white flowers, and tropical fruits, lovely peach and floral tastes, intense acidity, very refreshing, with some pleasant bitterness and with a smooth and silky mouth feel, very long finish with a number of fruit and floral notes. Good EGA. Lovely wine. 4*.
Great match with a Romaine and rare tuna salad.
Notes:
Beekman: The Rias Baixas region of Spain, which lies just north of Portugal, consists of five subregions. This one comes from Val do Saines. Until 1984, Albariños carried the ‘Albariño’ Denomination of Origin, but it was changed to Rías Baixas to conform to EU specs, which require place names, not grapes.
