WTN:`01 Rockford Riesling and `03 Vasse Felix Shiraz.

WTN: `01 Rockford Riesling Eden Valley, Australia.

Nice aged Riesling that appeared here 2 months ago for around $26 Cdn. Dry old world style, very nice limey nose along with the gasolein. Good acidity and still quite round. Thought tad short but livened up with the crab cakes. Very good.

WTN: `03 Shiraz Adams Road Vasse Felix, Margaret River Aust.

I have been a big Felix fan for years, no fruit bombs from this cooler climate area! As with the riesling, tasted with the staff of DeVines store at the Grill. My treat!
Nose is smoky w. floral aromats emerging dark berry fruits. On the palate, med to full-bodied, crisp and loads of black cherry fruits. Lively acidity fine grained ripe tannins, extend the finish. Lovely wine for $26 Cdn, well balanced and not overblown. Food was lamb lollipops, nice.

** A `98 Daylight Chambers Shiraz from Cimicky was corked, the Felix was the backup.

Is the Adams Road a second label for Vasse Felix? I'm not familiar with there being a second, but the price seems low for Vasse Felix (I'm a fan, too).

HI Jenise, no its an area I believe. Vasse Felix is on the label big time. What a stunning wine this was and there is more here in town!!!

Back label says........"Adams Road, the wine, is produced from the best parcels of fruit from our vineyards in the warmer Northern parts.....".

Bob, I checked my friend-the-importer's list and, looking at the wines offered from Vasse Felix, it would appear that VF now divides their wines into two categories, the Heytesbury and the Adams Road. The Adams Road wines are about a third the price of the others. So, yeah, it does kind of look like a second label.

Here's the list I looked at:

Hi Jenise.

Thanks for the link. I have just purchased the `04 and label has been changed somewhat.

"Vasse Felix"
and the hawk dominate top half of label.

"2004 Margaret River" in sort of italics. Then beneath.......

Adams Road Shiraz in bold print, same size as Vasse Felix

Someone in-the-know is buying this wine, none in store 2 weeks ago and now only one bottle left!!
