Had a bunch of wines with friends the other day. Two of which were:
2005 Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona Rosso di Montalcino
I don't drink much Rosso di Montalcino but this had lots going for it with plenty of lush fruit girded with fine mineral precision. And I had just enjoyed a Brunello the night before. What is this world coming to.
2004 Puffeney Arbois Pinot Noir
I was afraid my friends wouldn't like this as it did have the "gamey" notes we were led to expect. However, it was also alive, lithe, and relatively popular all around. Next time I won't serve it so warm and permeated with the glory of a humid late August Nyc evening.
